A ceremony to remember!

The Défi sportif closing ceremonies took place from 5 – 6 p.m. at Centre sportif Claude-Robillard. Jean-Marie Lapointe, Debra Arbec and Jean-Pierre Coallier hosted the proceedings, and it was a ceremony that will not soon be forgotten by those in attendance. A fitting conclusion to an event that touches so many lives. All that’s left to say is, same time next year!

Monique Lefebvre, founder of the Défi sportif, also took the podium to offer a few words of thanks to all the devoted volunteers who do so much to help make the event a special experience, and without whom it would not be possible to stage. They are Champions in their own right, and deserve all the plaudits they receive.

Speaking of Champions, the organizers singled out these athlete-spokespersons for their tireless efforts in promoting the event all year long. With a heavy heart we bid them adieu, but know that the 2005 representatives will have excellent examples to follow.

The final salute came from the confetti cannons, covering all the heroes - from athletes to organizers to volunteers to sponsors - in glory.
